VAT and sales tax software for Mekari Jurnal
Mekari Jurnal records the tax on every transaction and hands the sales invoices to Mekari Klikpajak, which issues e-Faktur and files under a DJP licence. That covers Indonesia. Sell to a buyer in the United States or the EU and the obligation sits outside both. Commenda registers you and files across 50 states and 70+ countries.
Trusted by global businesses
Keep Indonesia, add every other country
Mekari Klikpajak holds an official DJP licence and issues e-Faktur, e-Bupot, e-Billing and e-Filing. Its scope is Indonesian tax. Commenda registers, files and remits VAT, GST and sales tax across 70+ other countries.
Monitor your exposure abroad
Nothing in the Jurnal and Klikpajak pair measures a foreign threshold. Commenda measures your Jurnal transactions against economic and physical thresholds in all 50 US states, every EU member state and 70+ countries, and alerts you at 80%.
One relationship instead of one per country
Filing VAT manually country by country is the most common multi-jurisdiction problem we hear. One portal, one calendar, and one team handling filing and remittance everywhere you are registered.
Coverage comparison
What does the Mekari stack cover, and where does it stop?
The first row goes Mekari's way, because Klikpajak genuinely files Indonesian tax. The figures come from Mekari's own pages on the Klikpajak integration, tax automation with Klikpajak, its tax feature page, and its pricing plans, checked on July 30, 2026.

Calculate taxes globally on Mekari Jurnal using Commenda
Jurnal records the tax on every transaction and hands the sales invoices to Klikpajak, where PPN becomes an e-Faktur. A sale to a buyer in Texas or Germany carries a different tax that neither product calculates. Commenda works that rate out from the ship-to address on the same transaction, down to US county, city and district level, using the tax code on the product or service.

Track your global exposure from Mekari Jurnal
PKP status in Indonesia is a domestic test. A US state, an EU member state or Australia each run their own, and most US states start an obligation at $100,000 of sales or 200 transactions in twelve months. Commenda measures your Jurnal transactions against each rule and notifies you at 80%, before you cross. A short questionnaire covers physical presence, because a contractor or stored inventory never shows on an invoice.

Automatically remit transactions around the world
Klikpajak files and pays through the DJP systems, which is the whole Indonesian job and none of the rest. Commenda builds the return from the same transaction data and files across all 50 US states, the EU with OSS and IOSS, and GST in APAC and Canada. Remittance is tracked per jurisdiction, and amended returns are filed where a period needs correcting.

Manage your customers and exemptions in one place
A US wholesale customer who should not be charged tax gives you a resale certificate, and an EU business customer gives you a VAT number that has to validate. Neither is an Indonesian document and neither has a home in Jurnal. Commenda collects certificates through a portal your customers upload to, validates each one, and applies it automatically in the states where it is valid.

Consolidation
What happens to tax on your first sale outside Indonesia?
Mekari built a complete answer to one country's tax administration, and Indonesian compliance is the part of this stack that works. The question this page answers is what happens on the first invoice that leaves Indonesia, because that is where the Mekari answer runs out.
Coretax rebuilt the Indonesian side and changed nothing abroad
Klikpajak documents that Coretax took effect on 1 January 2025 under PMK 81/2024, integrating registration, reporting, payment and supervision, moving PKP confirmation into the electronic system and unifying payment deadlines to the 15th of the following month. That is a large change to one country's administration. A US state threshold and an EU OSS return did not move at all.
A domestic rate change tells you nothing about the destination
Klikpajak records that PPN went from 10% to 11% on 1 April 2022 and to 12% on 1 January 2025 under Law 7 of 2021, with the 12% rate applied to goods classified as luxury. Meanwhile 45 US states levy a sales tax, five levy none, and home-rule jurisdictions in Alabama, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois and Louisiana set their own. One rate at home, many answers abroad.
Only sales invoices cross from Jurnal into Klikpajak
Mekari states that the data importable into Klikpajak is sales invoice data created in Jurnal. A Shopee or Tokopedia order, a Stripe checkout and an app store payout often land in the books as summarised records after the fact. Foreign thresholds are assessed on all of your sales into a jurisdiction, not on the share that happened to be raised as an invoice.
One ledger behind every channel
Commenda connects each source directly, across 100+ integrations, and consolidates into one ledger tagged by ship-to jurisdiction. Each transaction carries its origin and any tax a marketplace already collected, so facilitated revenue stays separate from revenue that still needs tax. The result is one exposure figure per country, one return per period, and every line traceable back to the invoice it came from.
Cost of growth
What does the Mekari stack cover, and what does it cost?
Mekari Jurnal publishes its plans in full and Klikpajak sits in the add-on list beside them. The point of this table is not that Jurnal is expensive. It is that the Indonesian tax stack is complete and priced, and nothing on the list reaches a jurisdiction outside Indonesia.

“The platform works exactly the way I need it to. I have one team member who manages all of our exemption certificates, and that functionality has been particularly efficient for us. It allows him to handle everything seamlessly, making the handoff significantly easier.”

Which tax software fits a business running Mekari Jurnal?
If everything you sell stays in Indonesia, Jurnal and Klikpajak already cover you and a second tool is overhead. The comparison starts to matter on the first invoice that leaves the country. We rank the alternatives on coverage, ratings and real pricing, and we say where each one wins.

Frequently asked questions
Jurnal is the accounting application and Klikpajak is the tax application, and Mekari draws that line itself. Jurnal handles recording, bookkeeping and financial reports, and produces withholding and sales tax list reports you can filter by date, period and tax type and export as PDF, CSV or XLS. Klikpajak handles the tax administration: creating tax invoices with e-Faktur, issuing withholding certificates with e-Bupot, generating official DJP billing IDs, and paying and filing through e-Billing and e-Filing. It is registered as an official DJP application service provider under licence SK KEP-545/PJ/2022. Klikpajak is listed as an add-on in Jurnal's own pricing.
No, and we would rather be direct about it than imply otherwise. Indonesian PPN is not part of our published country coverage, and Klikpajak already holds the DJP licence that work runs through. Where a market needs local credentials we work with vetted local partners under our coordination, so you file and remit through one relationship rather than sourcing an agent yourself. What Commenda takes on is everything outside Indonesia: registration, threshold monitoring, filing and remittance across all 50 US states, the EU and 70+ countries. Tell us the markets you actually sell into and we will say which we cover directly and which run through a partner.
No. The tax automation in the Mekari product set is Indonesian: PPN, income tax, e-Bupot, e-Bupot Unifikasi, e-Bupot 21/26 and e-Faktur, filed and paid through the DJP systems. A sale to a buyer in a US state or an EU member state carries a tax those systems do not calculate, on a return they do not produce, against a registration Klikpajak's licence does not cover. Commenda reads the same Jurnal transactions and handles that side: the rate from the ship-to address, the registration where you have crossed a threshold, and the filed return.
No. Coretax took effect on 1 January 2025 under PMK 81/2024. It integrates registration, reporting, payment and supervision into one system, moves PKP confirmation into the electronic process, simplifies NPWP registration and unifies tax payment deadlines to the 15th of the month after the tax period ends. Every one of those is a change to Indonesian administration. A US state's economic nexus test, an EU OSS return and an Australian GST registration all work exactly as they did before. The obligations Coretax does not touch are the ones we take on.
No. One business-to-consumer digital sale into the EU can create a VAT obligation in the customer's country, but EU One Stop Shop lets you register for VAT in a single member state and file for cross-border sales across all 27 from that one registration. For sellers based outside the EU we usually recommend the Netherlands or Ireland. IOSS is the separate scheme for imported low-value goods sold to EU consumers, so which one applies depends on where your goods ship from and what they are worth. Commenda determines the right registration for your flow and files it.
Yes, because we do not rely on Jurnal being complete. Mekari states that the data importable into Klikpajak is sales invoice data created in Jurnal, so anything that arrives as a settlement summary from a marketplace or a checkout is outside that flow. Commenda connects those sources directly instead, across 100+ integrations covering marketplaces, billing platforms and other ledgers, with a REST API for a custom stack and a mapped CSV upload where no connector exists. Marketplace facilitator rules then keep platform-collected tax separate from your direct sales, so you are not filing on tax someone else already remitted.
Yes, and it is spreading. A growing number of jurisdictions require invoices to be issued through a government-validated electronic system rather than sent as a PDF, with Brazil a prominent example and parts of the EU and Latin America following. The mechanic will feel familiar from e-Faktur: the invoice has to clear the government system before it counts. E-invoicing changes how an invoice is issued and validated rather than how the tax is calculated, which means your tax engine and your invoicing flow have to agree at the moment of issuance. We assess your model per market and tell you where an obligation exists.
Custom integration support for your business
An Indonesian business selling abroad usually runs a marketplace, a checkout and a payout account alongside Jurnal, and each has its own idea of what tax was already collected. We map how yours works, connect the sources that carry your sales, and set the scope so nothing gets counted twice.
Indirect Tax
Monitor nexus exposure, register, file, and remit sales tax and VAT in one platform. Commenda keeps you compliant across 100+ jurisdictions.
