A New Look for International Accounting

One of the first names we know from written history belonged to an accountant.

The archaeological record suggests that Kushim was the first name worth writing down. His was pressed in Cuneiform in clay tablets more than 5,000 years ago.

Somewhere between then and now, the world started treating accountants like a commodity.

The story every accountant tells

Every accountant I’ve talked to in the last few years has told me some version of the same story. An executive sends over transactions at 11:00 PM for a midnight deadline. A client threatens to leave when their tax bill goes up because they made more money. A tax agency abruptly hangs up after an hour waiting on hold to check on a filing.

From my early days working with controllers as a management consultant and countless hours sitting with Visa’s finance team to understand the budget, to my role at Commenda today , I’ve gained a deep appreciation for everyone who makes businesses work.

Our mission at Commenda

At Commenda, our mission is to build an AI-managed entity platform for controllers, accountants, and corporate service providers to manage their companies and their clients’ international presence. For the last few years, we’ve been on a crusade to give those people in the book, to give you your 5:00 to 9:00 after your 9:00 to 5:00 back.

We’re not the only ones who are doing this. There are great businesses all around the world who are trying to sell you on efficiency, AI, and fresh tooling. But I think there’s more to the story.

Something new for an ancient profession

That’s why I’m creating something new for the practitioners of your ancient profession. I’m launching a project to interview accountants, tax professionals, lawyers, corporate service providers, and everyone else in the boiler room of business around the world to hear your stories and share them.

My goal is to create something fun and engaging for a professional community that I think has been long under-appreciated. I want to highlight the victories, the war stories, the late nights, and the million-dollar saves that all of my partners, colleagues, and clients have put together over their careers.

If you’re an accountant or controller in my network, you can assume I’m going to reach out to you sometime in the next few weeks, months, and years to hear your story. If we’re not yet acquainted and you’re interested in a bit of free publicity, shoot me a DM and I’d love to chat.
